October 2025 Update

Our Capital Campaign Goal

Greetings everyone!

We are excited to share an update from our recently concluded trip to the United States. The primary purpose of this journey was to raise awareness and support for the construction of new dormitories for the children in our care. Throughout our time in the U.S., we had the privilege of meeting with churches, partners, and friends who share our passion for giving children in Uganda a safe place to live and thrive.

The response was deeply encouraging. Many new friends caught the vision, and longtime supporters were reminded once again of how critical this project is. Dormitories are more than buildings — they represent safety, stability, and dignity for children who often face difficult circumstances. With secure housing, students will be able to focus on their education, grow in community, and step into a brighter future.

Our goal is to begin construction in January 2026. To reach this milestone, we still need to raise the necessary funds in the coming months. While we have raised a good start toward our Capital Campaign goal — nearly 22% of our $275,000 target — we still have a way to go. This vision has been on our hearts day and night, keeping us praying, planning, and working diligently for the children who are counting on us.

We believe this project is possible with your partnership. Every contribution, no matter the size, moves us closer to laying the foundation. Together, we can provide a home that not only shelters but also inspires hope.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us in one of these ways?

  • Pray for the children and for this project to move forward without delay.

  • Share this vision with friends, family, or churches who may want to join us in making a difference.

  • Give. If you haven’t given in some time, we invite you to consider supporting us again.

Thank you for standing with us in this mission. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity mean the world to us and to the children whose lives will be forever changed by your support.

Blessings,
Pastor Semei

Education That Transforms Lives

Our School in Kyajja, Uganda

At Lasting Smiles Uganda, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change. In Kyajja, our Student Scholarship Program is doing just that—opening doors for students who would otherwise never have the chance to continue their education.

Why This Matters

In rural Uganda, education beyond primary school is still out of reach for many children. Here’s the reality for students in communities like Kyajja:

  • Only 28 % of Ugandan children are enrolled in secondary school.

  • Many walk 2–3 miles or more each way just to attend class.

  • Students from the poorest families are five times less likely to attend secondary school than those from higher-income households.

  • Schools often lack essential resources—books, desks, trained teachers, and classroom space.

  • Most students who do enroll are over-age for their grade because of late starts or repeated years.

Despite these challenges, our students in Kyajja show incredible determination. They want to learn, to lead, and to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
